ML Engineer with a focus on NLP and a passion for learning.

About

I’m an ML Engineer passionate about NLP, but also interested in vision, speech, and multimodal systems. Recently, I’ve become particularly fascinated by reinforcement learning and its potential for fine-tuning foundation models.
Currently, I work at BLACKFIELD AI in Bremen, where I develop AI-based solutions for various industries. Previously, I was at Prognos AG, where I leveraged LLMs and a range of NLP techniques to extract insights from large unstructured datasets.
In my free time, I like to stay up to date with AI research, build useful open-source libraries, and go cycling or running.

🎓 Education

I studied in beautiful Munich at LMU, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Statistics and a Master’s degree in Statistics and Data Science. During my studies, I spent a semester abroad both in my bachelor’s and master’s programs: at NTU Singapore and Tsinghua University Beijing, respectively.
From early on, I focused on machine learning, diving into NLP well before the recent boom. While I’ve always loved coding, I also enjoy the mathematical challenges behind ML, which led me to place a stronger emphasis on statistics during my master’s.
During that time, I also founded the Munich🥨NLP Meetup, which I still co-organize today. At the end of my master’s, I received an award for the institute’s best statistical consulting project in 2023, where the HTR model I built even outperformed Google’s Cloud Vision model and the corresponding paper was later published.
